The religious tradition of San Giovanni Rotondo also takes in some of the festivals and rituals of citizens, as the habit of Our Lady, which takes place in the downtown streets on the evening of August 15.
Another important feast is that of Santa Maria delle Grazie, which occurs on days 8-9-10 September. On this occasion the picture, finely crafted, Our Lady of Grace site at the Capuchin convent of the same name, where Padre Pio lived, is brought into the country at the Mother Church and remained there for three days of the festival.
The nice little old town while being very interesting is, with rare exceptions, only residential area. The commercial and tourist activities have apparently minor and this means that the center of the country is only marginally affected by the large number of tourists due to the cult of Padre Pio, which is consumed almost exclusively around the area of the convent.
But for some years now the many cultural events and promotion of local public administration have meant that an increasingly large number of visitors have experienced and appreciated the local traditions, both in terms of cultural and culinary.
Walking through its streets is the church of St. Joseph the Worker, the Church of San Nicola, characterized by an important portal in copper depicting moments in the life of St. Nicholas, St. Catherine's Church (the oldest in the country), the Mother Church of San Leonardo (the main church of San Giovanni Rotondo, on the entry door that has a precious statue of St. Michael the Archangel), the Church of St. Ursula (very rich in history and recently restored), the Church of Our Lady of Loreto (which reproduces the real dimensions of the sacred birthplace of the Lord in Bethlehem), the Church of Sant 'Onofrio, and finally the ancient Church of San Giovanni Battista del III-II century a.C.
Churches, for their undeniable historical interest, plus the archaeological and ancient village of La Curvara Sant'Egidio.
